For the adventurous at heart, Lincoln Hall needs little introduction. He is famously known for his extraordinary survival after having been declared dead on high Mount Everest in 2006. That feat led to his award winning books, Dead Lucky and Alive in the Death Zone, as well as two documentaries – the Emmy nominated Rescue on the Roof of the World and the multi-award winning Miracle on Everest.
Lincoln took up rockclimbing aged 15, and began climbing mountains in New Zealand aged 20. He has been prominent in the outdoors world since the 1980s, most notably for his ground-breaking first ascents of major peaks in the Himalaya and Antarctica. For many years he worked as an outdoor skills instructor and a trekking, rafting and climbing guide. He also organized his own expeditions – such as the successful First Australian Mount Everest Expedition in 1984.
Lincoln’s leadership skills led him to human resource development work, where hechose projects involving both the workplace and the bush. As the editor of two outdoor magazines and the author of nine books, Lincoln is passionate about both written and spoken stories. He shares both with authenticity and humour.
